Film Screening @ South End Library 

Stalin banished more than 1.5 million Polish citizens to Siberia for a 3-year period. Those who were lucky enough to survive took refuge in Iran. Join film maker Narges Kharghani to learn and understand historical events forgotten by many. 

July 17 @ 6:00 pm Madame 
At 91 years old, Maria Bajdan, one of the last Polish survivors living in Iran, shares her story from Poland to Siberia and finally to Iran. 

July 24 @ 6:00 pm: All About Lola 
The Polonia Café in Tehran was established by Polish immigrants in 1943 and was a symbol of the Iranian people's solidarity with the Polish war victims. This movie highlights the life of Eleonora Barska, the last surviving founder of this important establishment. 
 

July 31 @ 6:00 pm: Te’aa’s Guest  
A Georgian woman living in the suburbs of Tbilisi navigates the emotional complexities of her life as she faces ongoing struggles with her husband, daughter, and mother. Now, she searches for a path to healing and resolution 

  

Narges Kharghani is an Iranian born film maker, journalist and writer living in Sudbury. Her feature documentaries have been selected for international festivals and have won many awards.
